In 1764, John ("Jack") Ward, a native of Ireland, leaving the ship on which he had ailed to America (believed to have come with mother and brothers) , set out for the Cherokee country. Arriving At Echota, he Learned that his father, Brian Ward, for whom he was searching, had separated from his Cherokee wife, Nancy Ward, and no Longer Lived in the Cherokee country.Ref: Springplace Moravian Mission West. pg.55.
