This is the design concept for a book cover. My 5th grade son and some friends from school are trying their hands at being authors. They are co-writing a book and ask me if I would help with the cover art. Since I have never been asked to do a cover for a book before, I was honored and readily agreed.
Their initial idea was to have a sword on the cover, but as we worked the idea for the clock face in the title type and the Japanese kanji for Samurai looked better. Any good male middle school level book has to have lightning or fire or something on the cover…we went with lightning and then used a posterize filter to give it a surrealistic effect.
