More Human than Trans-human

I got the distinct privilege to attend an invitation only Think Tank on Machine Intelligence hosted by TriCorps Technology. Scott Klososky, the Founding Partner, does a magnificent job of getting a group of leaders to think deeply about future issues related to technology. In this year’s Think Tank the topics of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Cognitive Computing, Natural Language Processing and other types of software and hardware automation were considered from many directions.

We discussed the economic impact, the social impact, the ethics issues, legal issues and the relationship between these areas and various industries. There was a lot of great dialog and idea sharing.

One of the really creative ways TriCorps helped us connect to the future reality of these technologies was to have each of us imagine ourselves as a Superhero with three powers selected from a list:

  • Machine Learning
  • Flight
  • Super Speed
  • Robotics
  • Heat Vision
  • Cognitive Computing
  • Time Manipulation
  • Deep Learning
  • Invulnerability
  • Super Strength
  • Real Time Predictive Analysis
  • Telepathy
  • Telekinesis
  • Recommendation Engines
  • Cloning
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Teleportation
  • Robotic Process Automation
  • Shapeshifting

I chose:

Cognitive Computing since it includes several of the other super powers (Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Robotic Process Automation, etc.) so I got lots of super powers rolled into one and it would make me a bad ass augmented trans-human,

Time Manipulation because I would be able to move through time which would be very useful and would replace the need for predictive analysis. And let’s face it, it would be really cool, and

Teleportation because I hate the time it takes to get places and I could move stuff too. Again really useful but also very cool.

I named my superhero Chrono Volant (Flying Time).

There was space to draw or describe your Superhero so I drew this:

Then late one night I decided to clean it up a little:

The description of my superhero came next:

A trans-human with the ability to transport himself and others through time and space, Chrono Volant has the capacity to be a force for great good or the genesis of great harm. Luckily for humankind, Chrono’s core values and years in recovery drive him to use his powers for the good of those who are often overlooked and underserved. In order to limit what would be infinite demand for his aid, Chrono spends his time as his alter-ego T3, a driven but balanced CEO of several thriving companies and part time artist. When Chrono is not saving part of the planet he likes to jump forward in time and binge watch Netflix series so that T3 can “predict” with crazy accuracy what is going to happen next season.

Then I decided to draw both the superhero version and the alter ego version:
