Some friends of mine and I have a group text thread. We started calling each other Super Good friends at some point. After a particularly wonderful breakfast at a quaint place in Grand Rapids, called Little Bird, the text thread got renamed Super Good with a little bird emoji (actually just the head of a bird). At some point one of our phones was connected to bluetooth in a rental car and announced to the whole car: “You have a text from super good birdhead”…!!
And so it stuck.
The other day we were considering a venture together and needed a name for an LLC to work under. Nothing else could be as perfect as Super Good Birdhead. I opened my journal and started sketching:
Once I could get to my computer I basically just drew what I had sketched. The colors are PMS 151C (orange), PMS 185C (red), and PMS 254C (purple). The colors are the favorite colors of each of the three of us. I altered the font forms somewhat (as I always do in logo design) and spent quite a bit of time getting the bird beak to look right and stay within the vertical limit of the left side of the design.
